Finally meeting Jackson & Adelyn!

Last weekend we finally got up to NY to meet Jackson and Adelyn! As you may know, Adelyn is Chase's cousin--the daughter of Joey (Helen's brother) and Meg--and Jackson is the son of Kim (Chase's godmother) and Matt, so we hope to spend a lot of time with all of them as the kids grow up. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First we needed to meet these little angels....(we were hoping to get more pictures, but were busy chasing a certain 9 month old around)

Helen with Jackson, Kim with Adelyn, and Chase looking old!

Chase wished Jackson a happy 1 month birthday!
 Mama Kim and baby Jackson
 Mama Meg and baby Addy
(Don't they both look fabulous? Aside from the little one in their arms, you'd never know they both just had babies)
 Introducing Addy and Jackson
And a cousins picture--Chase looks giant!
(As you can imagine, that picture was not easy to get. Here's one from behind the scenes).
 Sweet Adelyn
These two were sweet angels the whole time we were with them--sleepy or quietly awake and so snuggly. :-)

Meanwhile, Chase got into everything...

But it wasn't that long ago that he was their size:

We're looking forward to many more visits with Addy and Jackson (and their parents!) and watching them grow.

Happy Birthday, Grammy!

Chase refused to go to sleep tonight until we took pictures of him wishing his Grammy a Happy Birthday!

First, he had to inspect the sign to make sure it was up to his standards...

(he did some light reading while he waited for us to finish)

then he was unsatisfied with where we decided to put the sign...

so Chase took it upon himself to look for a better place to hang his sign...

using his resources to keep himself balanced as he looked...

and them having found the perfect spot, he grabbed the sign...

and put it exactly where he wanted it!

Happy Birthday Grammy!

40 weeks, 1 day

Chase has now officially been an "outside baby" for 40 week and 1 day- longer than he was an inside baby! While it makes me sad to think that he's growing further and further from the baby that was in my tummy for those 40 weeks, he's becoming more social and interactive so I actually feel just as close as ever to him. He's so thrilled to see me in the morning and when I get home at night. Plus, now I get to be proud of all the things he can do and the person he's becoming.
In the past few days Chase has started:

Dancing- It's absolutely hilarious. He bounces to the music from the tv, radio, or his toys. Yesterday he was dancing to the sound of the blow dryer.

Waving- At Mueller, not at Mommy, but it's a start.

Playing catch- He throws the ball to play catch. It usually bounces (he's close to the floor, afterall) so I'll catch/retrieve it. I roll it back to him or toss it into his lap and he throws it again!

Perfecting his High-5- He high-fived the crossing guard this morning and then cracked up about it.

Trying out new toys- Kayla put him on a bike today. He's such a big boy! He looks so grown up.

But he's still my little baby to snuggle and love. For now...

Chase at 9 months!

Chase is barely a baby anymore-- he's getting closer and closer to being a toddler. It's amazing how many skills he's developed in the last month alone, making it like something new every day. He's telling us his preferences, but also giving us hugs and smiling at people in the grocery store. Yesterday he learned how to "high-5" from Caleb and his dad.

At 9 months Chase is:

Crawling: Everywhere! And he's pretty fast. He also quickly transitions from crawling to sitting so that he can play with whatever he's crawled over to.

Pulling to standing: This is new within the last week and is very stressful for his Mommy. We've found him standing in his crib when he wakes up in the morning and after naps. He pulls himself up on our coffee table where he finds fun things like the remote control. The only problem is that is that he hasn't quite mastered getting down yet.

Getting more teeth: His bottom left tooth broke through the skin early this week and today we noticed that his top left tooth has broken the skin (we didn't even realize it was that close to coming in). He's been teething a lot, but not as much as in previous months. Hopefully this part of the teething process doesn't hurt as much, but I suspect he's too distracted with moving to put his hands in his mouth. You should be able to see the little white nub of his tooth in the picture below- you may have to click on the picture to make it larger.

Expanding his vocabulary: Chase says "bababababa" and "rararara" in addition to "dada." No mama yet, but he does make more "mmm" noises now when he babbles. He may say Mueller before he says Mama.

STILL waking up at night: He's down to once or twice, but he's still waking up. Aarrgh. We're trying some more interventions that are cry-free. I hope I'm not writing this again at his 10 month post!
Dancing: Not sure that he has any rhythm or not yet, but he is starting to shake his booty and bounce up and down when he hears music!

Socializing: Chase is smiley and flirty. He checks out people (especially other little kids) when we are out. He even makes noises at kids (which is hilarious). He's still working on waving but is developing the high-5.

(we call this last one "Desktop Background")

Eating new foods: This month Chase became attached to "french fries" (sweet potato sticks that have been baked) and teething biscuits. The attached part of them is that he squeezes them in his hand and they dissolve! Chase has also discovered how much fun it is to feed Mueller. He hangs his hand over the side of the tray and lets Mueller take whatever he's eating. We have to sweep after every meal and it turns out that Mueller is not such a big fan of potatoes or puffs!

Banging together anything that he can get his hands on:  We've yet to let him play with pots and pans, but it will only be a matter of time before he finds them on his own.  Right now his favorite things to bang together are his maraca and tambourine and his multiple sets of nesting cups, thanks Grammy!!

On his 9 month birthday, we went to visit the Baca-Ashers. Chase played with Caleb and we got to meet little Lalo. Unfortunately we didn't get any pics of Chase and Lalo smiling at each other, but we did get some of Chase and Caleb playing.

Happy 9 months, sweet boy!

We've been busy! (2 of 2)

Chase has been on the move...

He's also starting to eat some big boy foods. He sucked on an asparagus spear and literally cried when I took it away. What can I say? The boy loves his veggies!
He also enjoys eating his floor mat. mmm "M"
 More stuff to climb on

Chase met his new cousin, Addy, via video chat!

 She's a cutie!

Ben and his parents came over for some fun...

And Grammy read Chase one of the great new books she got him. Chase is loving his new books, especially the flappy ones and the ones that make Daddy do a dance.

Our happy, vocal, boy on the move!
