Baptism

This weekend we celebrated Chase's baptism. It started on Thursday when Kim, his godmother, flew in. We had a lovely dinner out (sans Stephen who had back-to-school night) and caught up on Chase and Baby Tennant (due January 2011).

On Friday, Kim took over nanny duties and watched Chase all day long. She was very brave, but it was good practice for her. And luckily, Chase was very well-behaved- VERY well-behaved. He spent most of the day napping. That afternoon Tim, his godfather, and Lauren flew in and Grammy and Grampy drove down so we all went to dinner and then back to our house. With all of the excitement, Chase could not settle down and didn't go to sleep until almost 10:30! (sadly that did not mean he slept through the night).

On Saturday we went to our baptism class and ran some errands before Nonnie & Pop, Aunt Meg, Uncle Joey, & Uncle Billy arrived. We spent the afternoon and evening barbequing, playing corn hole, playing with Chase and just hanging out. It was great to just be with everyone, especially at our home where we could play host/hostess to our families who always go out of their way for us. Chase was so excited to have time with so many people who love him!

Sunday morning we arrived early for the 9am mass at St. Peter's on Capitol Hill. Chase wore the Lamont christening gown that his great-grandfather, father, uncles, and cousin all wore for their baptisms.

There were four baptisms during mass on and we had, by far, the biggest crowd of family, friends, and fans. We were joined by Uncle Tommy (my godfather), Aunt Joanne, Meg & Tucker, Liz & Ty, Jon & Emily, and Okera & Nasya in addition to all the family who came in earlier. Thanks to a wakeful night and a warm church, Chase slept through the service.
The baptismal sacrament took place after the homily and when the priest poured holy water over Chase's eyes, he woke up but did not cry. He was such a good boy. After mass we took many, many pictures.

Following mass and pictures, we had a lovely brunch at Zest with family and friends.

We had a great time with everyone and are so thankful for all the good wishes and prayers. It was such a wonderful weekend that we're still recovering.

God Bless Chase!
